Everywhere you look at the speed skating track in Kearns you see orange! People from the Netherlands are fanatical about this sport. With no mountains in their country, they don't develop skiers. However, the numerous canals freeze and everyone skates. The raucous crowd cheered on their countryman, Jochem Uytdehaage who skated to a silver medal in the men's 1500 meter. The event saw three Olympic and two World records set.

Accompanying the fans from the Netherlands was an ompah band called "Kleintje Pils" which means "Little Beer." This ensemble of about a dozen players in wooden clogs really fired up the crowd. There is something special about hearing songs like "YMCA" and "We Will Rock You" done by an ompah band! :-)
