The Team keeps itself on the go by financing itself through the sale of pictures. Not all pictures are good enough to sell. The kids know that. One of the lessons Bingwa is teaching them: Selection and rejection helps you improve your work.

Not all the kids plan to make photography their life’s work. Right now, photography is a means to a goal—a way to travel to exciting places. The kids realize that what they discover about photography often can be used in the way they run their own lives. “You learn to try new things,” says a former Team member. “You find out you have to go for it.”

Sorting through dozens of photographs to decide what to sell, the kids lose themselves in the group. Who took the picture isn’t as important as whether it is good enough to exhibit.
