5:04 PM
 5:04 PM    Michael Mikel
A major earthquake hit San Francisco at 5:04 PM on October 17, 1989. Wandering around afterward, Michael Mikel became interested in an Oldsmobile buried under a brick wall. He offered to buy the car, but the owner considered it totally ruined, and simply gave it to him. As it turned out, only minor repairs and a new paint job were required to make it roadworthy. Mikel added a new license plate reading "5:04 PM" to commemorate the quake. He still drives the resurrected vehicle, which he considers a humorous comment on the automobile industry's quest for shiny perfection.
