    2008
  • In October Kathy Vaeth, Jeremy Grace, Ed Furlani and Kam Ng presented a poster at MicroTas 2008 entitled, "Thermally Induced Deflection of Microjets". Kathy is also an adjunct professor in the chemical engineering department at Cornell.
  • In June, Edward P. Furlani presented "Microscale Manipulation of Fluid Properties with Applications to Ink Jet Printing", at the 6th New York Complex Matter Workshop, RIT.
  • In June, E. P. Furlani, A. Baev and P. N. Prasad were invited to present "Optical Nanotrapping Using Illuminated Metallic Nanostructures: Analysis and Applications" at the NSTI Nanotech Conference.
  • In June, E. P. Furlani, K.C. Ng, A. G. Lopez and C. Anagnostopoulos presented "Integrated Thermal Modulation and Deflection of Viscous Microjets with Applications to Continuous Inkjet Printing", at the International NSTI Nanotechnology Conference.
  • A book titled "Single-Sensor Imaging - Methods and Applications for Digital Cameras" was published this year and contributors from Kodak included: James E. Adams, Russell Palum, Ken Parulski, Robert Reisch and John Hamilton (retired) who all contributed chapters.
  • Walter Cooper received the prestigious Frederick Douglass Medal at a dinner on September 23rd. Walter Cooper is a retired research scientist at Eastman Kodak Co., one of the founding members of the Rochester chapter of the National Urban League and Action for a Better Community, and a New York State regent emeritus.
  • On June 18, the International Imaging Industry Association (I3A), a leading global association for the imaging industry, gave its prestigious annual Achievement Award to Ken Parulski, Senior Research Fellow at Eastman Kodak Company.
  • On May 14, the Society for Imaging Science & Technology (IS&T) Rochester Chapter recognized 39 inventors from Rochester. The Kodak inventors included: Jiann Chen, Ron Cok, Steve Evans, Ed Furlani, Gil Hawkins, Roger Kerr, Joe Manico, Dale McIntyre, Ken Parulski, Stan Stephenson and John Wilson.
  • 2007
  • Thomas Blanton was elected a member of the Denver X-ray Conference Organizing Committee. The Denver X-ray Conference is the largest international meeting for X-ray powder diffraction and X-ray fluorescence technologies.
  • The Kodak Technicians Affiliate Group (TAG) received a Salute To Excellence Award in August of 2007 from the American Chemical Society, along with Ken Rankin who was honored for his long term editorial work on the ACS National Newslettter. Nancy Ferris attended a reception in Boston to accept the award on behalf of Kodak. Ken received his award on Oct. 24 at an award reception.
  • Steve Sasson Inducted into Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame

Kodak researcher Steve Sasson, inventor of the world’s first digital camera, has been inducted into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame (Oct. 16) along with such industry luminaries as Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft, Amar Bose, founder of Bose, and the team of German inventors who developed the MP3 format. Sasson’s pioneering work began in 1975 and the technology employed for producing the first digital camera, using a charge coupled device (CCD) sensor, was patented in 1978.
  • At the Academy Awards (The Oscars) on Feb. 25, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences recognized Frank Ricotta, with EI Customer Technical Services, and two EI retirees, Alan Masson and Dick Sehlin and awarded them "Special Plaques" by the Academy for their work as part of a team that revamped the way motion picture soundtracks are recorded on print film (the film used to exhibit movies in theaters).
  • The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery has selected as the Best Overall Basic Science Paper your paper entitled "Reciprocity of Exposure Time and Energy Density during Photoradiation on Wound Healing in a Murine Pressure Ulcer Model" submitted for the 27th Annual Conference to take place April 13, 2007. Kodak authors included: Don Olson (Program Leader), Andy Kurtz (Project Leader), Roger Connelly, Tim Peter, Martin Kaplan, and with support and encouragement from Jim Milch and his Leadership Team.
  • In March 2007, Steve Sasson received the "Visionary" award from the Product Development and Management Association. Steve is the inventor of the very first digital camera.

Holding a key leadership position in a scientific society and/or publication is not only a prestigious and distinguished honor – it demonstrates a professional commitment to a particular field of art and science, and to the society that embodies it.

Kodak Research staff hold many key positions in professional societies and their publications. In addition, Kodak R&D staff have received many individual honors, such as society fellowship.
