Nurturing A Growing Interest in Digital Photography
For Greg Allikas, a stint in the military and a design degree from
Pratt Institute prepared him well for the digital revolution. As a
West Palm Beach-based commercial photographer, Allikas first established
his business in 1970 as a conventional photographer. Today, he is
doing more and more print and web-based projects with his KODAK
DC260 Zoom Camera.
Allikas got his first taste of digital imaging when he started having
his traditional photos scanned onto KODAK
Photo CD. He would then manipulate the images on his own computer
system using ADOBE PHOTOSHOP. But after a while, he was looking for
a more direct way to get his images into the computer. It was only
a matter of time before he would purchase his first digital camera.
"I do a lot of work for the American Orchid Society, which is based
here, and last year I went on an orchid expedition to Belize. I bought
an OLYMPHK digital camera to take on the trip," said Allikas. "It
was OK, but it just wasn't quite good enough. It didn't have enough
features and the image quality wasn't good enough for my professional
work." The initial disappointment led to his recent purchase of a
DC260 Camera. Greg's landscapes from a recent hiking trip to California
demonstrate the true photographic-quality results the DC260 can deliver.
