The KODAK DC240 and a Monster Roadtrip
Michael Marriner, Nathan Gebhard, and Alissa Andress are business students
with a passion for management and a desire to create their own company.
They are anxious to learn more about what makes great companies great.
And they have some specific ideas about how to find out. They took their
ideas on the road, where they will spend nearly three months traveling
from company to company on a quest for knowledge.
The Mission
As the roadtrip team puts it, the mission is to, "... search for the ideal
company, while looking for the management traits not taught in business
school. We want to share this knowledge with anyone interested in self-education.
More importantly, we want to elicit their involvement as we attempt to
better prepare the next generation of managers for the new economy."
The Set-Up
Outfitted with a motorhome, maps, laptops, a KODAK
DC240 Zoom Digital Camera, and the energy of the adventurous, they
are traveling from city to city and company to company throughout the
summer of '99. Along the way they are reporting progress and findings
on their website at Monster.com. Using chat rooms and bulletin boards,
they are soliciting input from their virtual travel partners -- the visitors
to their website.
The Role of the DC240
Michael, Nathan, and Alissa are chronicling their experience in pictures
as well as words. All the pictures on their website are digital, taken
with the DC240. The key advantages delivered by the DC240 in this case
are:
- Compact and durable, worry-free operation
- Easy to use, productive right away
- Zoom lens for compositional flexibility
- 1.3 Megapixel resolution - allows for cropping while maintaining high
quality
