Capturing Nature From a Bird's Eye View
Chuck Moriarty leads a very interesting life. He is a tree surgeon
by day and works nights as an emergency room nurse at the Brandywine
Hospital and Trauma Center in Pennsylvania. But, his family's hobby,
he says, has always been photography.
As a landscape photographer and commercial tree surgeon working
for a number of local golf courses, he recently got involved in
documenting the refurbishing of several golf courses. "I use my
digital camera to record what the old course looked like, and every
aspect of the new construction," explained Moriarty. "Since most
of the design budget is underground, it is absolutely critical that
all this work be documented as we go along, should any legal issues
surface later."
"With my DC120
I can take one hundred pictures, bring them home to process them and
then e-mail them out to my client by the end of the day. This is where
the digital camera is really such a powerful tool," said Moriarty.
Moriarty has taken his use of digital technology a step further
by seaming together multiple DC120 images, using ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
and QUICKTIME VR, to create a single panoramic image with a 360
degree view of the golf courses. "My customers just love these."
