The first figure is the approximate file size of a picture taken at the given resolution and compression (quality) settings. Note that the file size of camera originals will vary based on the subject matter as well as the resolution and quality settings on the camera. JPEG compression ratios are impacted by the amount of detail in a scene--for example, highly detailed scenes will compress less than smooth, plain scenes.
