The pictures in the DC215 Quality Comparison Series were shot at each of the three quality settings available on the DC215, for both standard and high resolution, for a total of six combinations.

Resolution settings vary the number of pixels used to create the image.

• High resolution provides more detail and better print quality.
• Standard resolution provides more picture capacity on the memory card, but sacrifices some detail.

• The advantage of less compression is that it provides the best picture quality.
• The advantage of more compression is smaller file size*, enabling you to fit more pictures on your camera's COMPACTFLASH memory card. But the higher compression settings sacrifice some picture quality.

We've carefully chosen the various quality settings on the DC215 Zoom camera to give users a wide range of flexibility when making quality vs. file size decisions, but to also insure that results will be acceptable at all settings. The pictures below are cropped without modification from the original camera files. The differences between the quality settings are subtle.

We encourage you to interpret the differences between the original pictures in the way that is most meaningful to you. Download the original files and evaluate them by using them in the way you typically use digital pictures (e.g., print them, install them as wallpaper, etc.).
