  Document Scanner 9500
Document Scanner 9500    The KODAK DIGITAL SCIENCE Document Scanner 9500 is designed for high-volume production scanning applications

Introduction

It handles daily volumes of 12,000 to 30,000 pages and higher. The Document Scanner 9500 features on-board Adaptive Threshold Processing (ATP) to save time and enhance image quality. A robust paper transport, advanced document feeder, and fast throughput rate provide productive, reliable duplex scanning. Plus, it's backed by a worldwide service and technical support network to help assure you of maximum uptime and the most pages scanned per shift.

Save time and steps with ATP
The on-board dynamic thresholding capabilities of the Document Scanner 9500 mean there's no need for an expensive accessory processing board. ATP provides uniform image quality from batches of intermixed documents. This eliminates the need to pre-sort documents by background color, print density, or quality. In many cases, compression is also improved, resulting in smaller file sizes. Rescans are minimized and more work gets done faster.

Hardworking and reliable
The Document Scanner 9500 takes its design strength from KODAK DIGITAL SCIENCE Scanners, the industry leaders among high-volume production scanners.

Its enhanced transport handles an unsurpassed range of document sizes, thicknesses, and surface quality to minimize stoppages and the need for exception scanning. A new and improved CCD camera provides sharper edges, reduced noise, and optimal readability. An advanced document feeder accepts mixed-size documents in stacks up to 1.5" (or approximately 200 pages), further reducing operator time and labor costs.

Flexible and fast to meet your needs
The Document Scanner 9500 provides cost-effective support for distributed document scanning by facilitating batch processing:

  • ATP and auto-feeding allow an operator to feed batches of mixed-size documents continuously. The feeder, exit hopper, and controls are positioned conveniently to help operators work efficiently.
  • Document order is maintained, minimizing the need for document handling after scanning. A variety of accessories enable you to match scanner capabilities to your needs. For example, bar code reading and patch reading are available to reduce or eliminate the need for manual data entry.
  • The Document Scanner 9500 scans up to 160 pages per minute (A4 letter, landscape mode, 200 dpi, 120 ppm portrait); equivalent to 320 images per minute in duplex mode.

Features and Benefits
  • Image Header file contains image information, such as image size, bar code data, and sequence number; facilitates image file management.
  • Friendly operator interface includes event confirmation tones, LCD Status Display with operator messages, programmable function keys, and time-saving user-defined modes for specific applications.
  • Automatic feeder allows manual feeding or continuous feeding of batches of up to 200 mixed-size documents.
  • Gap release lever accommodates exceptionally thick documents, such as filled envelopes.
  • Exit hopper is adjustable to handle documents of varying sizes.
  • Access doors allow easy access to the document transport system without the need to move the scanner or remove accessories.
  • Computer-based diagnostics and modular design simplify service to minimize downtime.

  • Adaptive Threshold Processing enables uniform image quality from intermixed documents to eliminate sorting and reduce rescanning.
  • Selectable resolution from 70 to 300 dpi accommodates a range of applications.
  • Check Feeder and Check Stacker provide continuous transport and scanning of check-size documents.
  • Patch Reader automates the document batch structure according to patches printed on documents or on header cards.
  • Bar Code Reader recognizes data encoded on documents for transfer to the host system as part of the Image Header.
  • Endorser imprints document with uniform stamp.
  • Document Printers 1 and 12 enable you to print information on scanned documents for document identification and tracking; choice of 38 characters vertically or 144 horizontally.
  • Footswitch allows hands-free operation for enhanced user productivity.
