Get down to business with
the KODAK DIGITAL SCIENCE Document Scanner 5500 |
The KODAK
DIGITAL SCIENCE Document Scanner 5500 provides versatile batch scanning
to support mid-volume or decentralized imaging applications ranging
from 3,000 to 12,000 pages per day. On-board Adaptive Threshold Processing
(ATP) saves time and enhances image quality. A robust paper transport,
advanced document feeder and fast throughput rate provide productive,
reliable simplex or duplex scanning - all in a convenient, desktop-sized
package.
Improve quality and throughput - automatically
The on-board dynamic thresholding capabilities of the Document Scanner
5500 mean there's no need for an expensive accessory board. ATP provides
uniform image quality from batches of intermixed documents. This eliminates
the need to pre-sort documents by background color, print density,
or quality. In many cases, compression is also improved, resulting
in smaller file sizes. Rescans are minimized and more work gets done
faster.
A proven foundation you can depend on
The Document Scanner 5500 takes its design strength from KODAK DIGITAL
SCIENCE Scanners, the industry leaders among high-volume production
scanners.
Its enhanced transport handles an unsurpassed range
of document sizes, thicknesses and surface quality to minimize stoppages
and the need for exception scanning. An advanced document feeder
accepts mixed-size documents in stacks up to 1.5" (or approximately
200 pages), further reducing operator time and labor costs.

Scanning productivity at the press of a
button
The Document Scanner 5500 scans up to 80 pages per minute (A4 letter-size,
landscape mode; 60 ppm portrait); equivalent to 160 images per minute
in duplex mode. Simple controls, preprogrammed function keys, and
available accessories help operators become efficient with little
training.
In a single pass, the Document Scanner 5500 will scan the fronts
and backs of documents, and read bar codes and patches to reduce
manual data entry, while printing information such as time/date
or sequence number. And your scanning reliability will be backed
by a responsive, global network of certified Kodak Field Engineers.
A versatile scanner that fits many applications
The high speed of the Scanner 1500 can be perfect for your centralized
or decentralized scanning operation, depending on your application
volumes. It is also ideal for system pilot trials, as they provide
a base from which to move up to higher speeds within the family
of KODAK DIGITAL SCIENCE Scanners.
